When it came time for Raleigh Linville to start working on his Eagle Scout service project about two years ago, the Liberty High School sophomore knew he wanted to focus on Johns Hopkins Children's Center.
He wanted to reach out to pediatric patients like his twin brother, Owen, who was born with spina bifida and has had numerous procedures at the hospital throughout his life.
With the help of several volunteers, the Marriottsville teen designed and built six wooden and metal easels to help patients draw, write and do other projects that require a flat surface.

Many times lately, I have seen articles in the editorial section about people who are angry about personal items being stolen from their house or car.
So be aware, this could happen to you.
Take precautions, like not leaving valuables in cars, locking all doors and windows in your house and, most of all, be aware of what is going on around your neighborhood.
You know what children want or what children with paint want to do with a clean sheet of paper? They want to mess it up. -Froma Harrop

The Salvation Army bell-ringing campaign had plenty of doughnuts Friday morning, but more volunteers are needed to fill some holes at the red kettle stations.
The kickoff of the campaign at three locations produced about $300 during three hours Friday, starting at 6 a.m.
This was only a third of last year's total during a similar bell-ringing blitz that also passed out doughnuts and coffee to donors.

Seven new legal filings were made public in the past two days in a libel lawsuit brought by Doreen Montepara.
Her suit involves a local political Internet message board, a reporter, a radio host and a former county council candidate.
The case began when Montepara was named in anonymous fliers that falsely accused her of being involved in a medical disciplinary case in Connecticut.

WALSALL today return to the Griffin Park home of Brentford for the first time in almost four years – and Chris Hutchings will be hoping to avoid the fallout that befell Paul Merson back in 2006.
On February 4, 2006 the Saddlers visited the Bees with storm clouds gathering over Merson's flagging reign as manager.
After a 5-0 defeat to Martin Allen's promotion-bound side those clouds broke – and the former Villa and England man was sacked.

Last month, a blurry photo featuring Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress dressed as a flight attendant with a black wig and a pink apron appeared on one of his player's Twitter pages.
Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe was the culprit, but he had more in mind than to embarrass the boss for his attempt to lighten the mood on the team plane.
"I wanted to do that so people could see he's not that guy people see on the interviews, just so monotone and serious all the time," Shiancoe said.
I just thought that it was important to do it my way -Brad Childress
